*Shiva, or Siva, lit. "the auspiscious one," is one of three "Persons" in the Hindu Triunity, or Trimurti, along with Brahma, the creating one, and Vishnu, the preserving one. Shiva is the god of destruction and regeneration. Each is considered one Aspect of God, or Brahman.
